Archaeology code of practice

None of our recommendations should prevent your enjoyment of 'beach-combing', as strandline finds have already been washed out of their original context; however the Museum is always interested to see these objects and will attempt to identify them for the finder. Do not clean anything picked up on the shore and wrap it to prevent damage.

Archaeological activities on the islands

Slide Shows
Most Tuesday evenings between April and early October in the Methodist Hall
Most are a general overview of the archaeology and history of Scilly but there will be occasional slide shows on particular topics.

Show starts at 8.15pm, doors open at 7.45pm
Admission: £3.00 adults, £1.50 children over 10

Guided Walks
On St Mary's: Tuesday and Thursday mornings from April to early October
Variety of routes, some starting with a bus trip, including:

Buzza, Peninnis and Old Town
Hugh Town and the Garrison
Harry's Walls, Halangy Village and Bant's Carn
Porth Hellick, Giant's Castle and Old Town

Starting from Holgate's Green, Hugh Town at 10.00am
Charges (excluding bus fare): £4.00 adults, £2.00 children over 10
